What are mobile steps and when should I use them?

Updated

Mobile steps are steel steps on wheels with a platform and handrails, used for reaching high shelves in warehouses, stockrooms, libraries and workshops. You wheel them into place, and they stay put when you climb.

When to use them

  • Picking stock or files from high racking.
  • Regular, repeated access to the same height.
  • Where a ladder would be unstable or block an aisle.

Our range

  • Industrial mobile steps: welded steel, 300kg rating, braked castors, in blue or red.
  • Light Weight, Narrow, Knock Down and Extra Wide versions for different spaces.
  • Options include rubber treads, walk-through platforms, gates and chains.

How to choose a height

Each step adds 0.25m of platform height (a 6 step is 1.50m). You can reach about 2m above the platform.

Mobile steps are made to order, take around 42 working days, and can't be returned. See Made-to-order items: industrial mobile steps.
