Store tower parts clean, dry, off the ground and sorted by type, so nothing gets damaged or lost and the tower is quick to put up next time.
Steps
- Clean and dry every part before storing. Wet parts left together can stain and corrode, and wet timber toeboards and platforms can rot.
- Check for damage as you take it down. Put aside anything bent, cracked or missing clips, and order replacements.
- Sort parts by type and size: frames, braces, platforms, toeboards, outriggers, castors. Keep small parts like clips and pins in a labelled box.
- Keep parts off the ground on racking or timber bearers.
- Don't stack too high, and chock tubes so they can't roll.
- Store under cover in a dry, ventilated place.
- Keep access clear: don't block doors, exits or vehicle routes.
Tip
Keep the component list for your tower size with the parts, so you can check everything is there before you build it.
